PATRICK JOHNSON
Patrick
Johnson is a new and original talent on the modern jazz scene. He
describes his compositions as uplifting, melodic and in the realms of
Progressive Jazz Folk.
In his
early twenties, he has plenty of live experience, having held a five
month residency at the well-established Bull Head, Barnes, played many
times in and around London, on a main stage at Brecon Jazz Festival, and
filmed a DVD at Windsor Arts Centre.
Other
projects include working for independent record label Ear Candy Music in
the studio, as an occasional artistic director, and seeking suitable
acts for them. He also works for the Charity "East Berkshire Mind"
teaching music, and is available for private tuition.
His
influences include Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, George Benson, Joni
Mitchell, Frank Zappa, Maurice Ravel, Keith Jarrett, and Jaco Pastorius.
In his early years he was heavily influenced
by the live performances of Joe Zawinul at Ronnie Scotts, and John
Surman, Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Ralph Towner, and by his father
Ronnie Johnson and First Light.
Patrick performs usually with his quartet or as a duo with his father
Ronnie Johnson.
