About me...
I live in Greater London. Although I was
born in Louisiana I grew up in New York and lived in France for several
years before coming to England. I have always had a passion for
music of all kinds, especially jazz and blues, and particularly live
music. It has always been an important part of my life.
I work full-time in education and have
worked in colleges for nearly 20 years. I did a BA degree in
Modern Languages at the State University of New York, studied in France
at the Université de Nancy II, came to England, qualified as a teacher –
got my post-graduate teaching qualification, then did a Masters Degree
in Education. I’m a Member of the Institute of Linguists - I speak
fluent French and some Spanish. To gain a greater understanding of the
music industry I have studied at City University where I took courses in
Music Management.
My interest in live music and respect for
those who make a living performing it led to the creation of Small
Planet Music. It began as something I did for musician friends. I ran
quite a few successful gigs at a college, one thing led to another and I
began producing publicity materials for bands to promote themselves, I
then started acting as a representative for various musicians and that
is how Small Planet Music began.
My aim is to find and create additional
opportunities for musicians and audiences and to add to what these
musicians already do for themselves. I’m involved with various
festivals such as The Ealing Festival, The Brecon Jazz Festival,
Imperial Wharf Jazz Festival and the Swanage Blues Festivals. I do this simply because I
love to do it.
Thanks to all the musicians that form the
Small Planet Music roster and to those who help to provide opportunities
for them to perform. Also, thanks to
Steve Darrington for producing my
website.
